MANILA, Philippines - Nationalist People's Coalition chairman emeritus Eduardo "Danding" Cojuangco Jr. is not supporting the presidential bid of his nephew Gilberto Teodoro Jr.
Cojuangco's wife Gretchen stressed this over the weekend, saying the former ambassador felt bad when Teodoro left him.
“Anybody but Gibo... anybody but him,” Mrs. Cojuangco said, according to a report on Visayas-based news site Visayan Daily Star (www.visayandailystar.com).
"I feel bad for my husband because Gibo left without saying a word to his uncle, who helped and supported him (in his political career) for nine years," she added.
Teodoro, standard bearer of the administration Lakas-Kampi-CMD, is the son of Cojuangco’s younger sister Mercedes.
Mrs. Cojuangco said her husband "had big plans" for Teodoro, but Teodoro left him without thanking him or asking permission before leaving to pursue his endeavors.
She said Teodoro did not talk or attempt to talk with his uncle anymore after he left to join the administration
Teodoro used to head the NPC bloc in the House of Representatives before President Arroyo appointed him Defense Secretary in 2007.
But Mrs. Cojuangco also did not say if her husband will be supporting his other nephew Sen. Benigno Simeon Aquino III. - Frontline.PH
